Chandlery Assistant - Saturdays (age 16+)

The small, friendly team is looking for a chandlery assistant – someone with a positive, helpful attitude able to use their own initiative. A hands-on and on-your-feet role!

Boating knowledge is desirable but not essential. This is a chance to grow within a team and be involved across the business.

Core duties include:

  • Serving customers in the chandlery (shop) and taking payment – we sell everything from screws to boats!
  • Answering phone calls and taking enquiries
  • Administrative and retail tasks
  • Office upkeep/light cleaning (desks/kitchen area) as required
  • The role involves light physical activity, including lifting and shifting (deliveries, gas bottles, stock etc.)

Duties may also include:

  • Ordering parts and stock from a range of marine vendors
  • Handling deliveries and packing orders (goods-in/goods-out)
  • Assisting marine engineers in the boat yard 
  • Using a database (training will be provided)
  • Assisting at boat shows 
  • Input into new products to stock

Hours:

Saturdays (9am-5pm)
Mon-Fri ad-hoc hours as required, mainly to cover staff holiday/absence. This will be discussed at the time. We strive to offer flexible working and to accommodate individual circumstances. Being a team player is the priority.

This could be a summer job or extend into September and beyond, depending on the candidate’s plans and suitability. There may be opportunities to follow a marine engineering route.
