Why do life jackets have crotch straps?

• Designed to prevent the life jackets and buoyancy aids from riding up in the water, the crotch strap improves life jacket performance by keeping it in the correct position during water entry. We recommend it for any lifejacket or  buoyancy aid that has a waist belt.
